HOUSE RENOVATIONS
Thanks to countless hours of hard work under the supervision and guidance of Dave Filiberto, the house repairs have now been mostly completed. The Old Lady is looking amazing! We’ve installed new flooring in the Grand Hall and card room and we now have furnished rooms on the 1st and 2nd floor, with a plan to have a house of tenants in the Fall. The past month has also seen the parking lot completely repaved for the first time in decades and the installation of brand new flooring for the front terrace/porch. It will be a perfect weekend for the alumni to get together at the House! Look out for another newsletter in a couple of weeks with tons of pictures from the Reunion events!
The House will be open all day!
10AM to 1:30PM:
Brothers will be at the House during the morning and into the early afternoon for the SAF and Beta meetings.
1:30PM to 4PM
In the early afternoon the House will be mostly quiet but alumni are encouraged to stop by with their friends and family to show them around if you’re on campus. Alumni will be getting the Grand Hall ready for the late afternoon events.
4PM TO 6PM
At four o’clock in the afternoon we will have our Annual Theta Delta Chi, Beta Charge reunion event. Hosted be the Spectemur Agendo Foundation, brothers from all years are encouraged to stop by the house for drinks and hors d’oeuvres.

We are going to have a ceremony honoring the memory of brother Robert Schultz (’04). In light of Bob’s recent passing, his family graciously donated over $100,000.00 to the Foundation with a pledge to give more. And so friends and family will be in attendance to display a beautiful plaque, to be put up in Bob’s memory, as well as to give a few brief speeches about our brother and friend.
| IN MEMORY OF ROBERT D. SCHULTZ, ESQ. (’04) From Bob’s mother, Valerie Schultz – A memorial ceremony to honor the life of Robert Downs Schultz, Esquire, will take place at Cornell University, Theta Delta Chi house, at 800 University Ave., Ithaca, New York, on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 4:00 pm. This would have been Bob’s 20th college reunion. The ceremony will conclude with the unveiling of a placard in Bob’s name for the area of the house that is being dedicated in his name. The family has chosen the Porch. |
Bob, as he is known by the brotherhood, graduated from Cornell in 2004 with a bachelor of arts degree. He then attended law school at the University of Pittsburgh and obtained his juris doctor degree in 2007. From there, he attended the Washington University in St. Louis for his MBA. Bob’s earliest years were spent at Shady Side Academy from kindergarten to 12th grade. Students who completed their 13 years of education at the Academy were known as “Lifers.” Bob was a Lifer! He enjoyed playing the guitar and briefly had a gig with some Cornell brothers in a group known as, Haile Selassie.
Bob is survived by his lovely daughter, Elle Valerie Schultz, and his partner, Kara Dempsey. Also survived by his parents, Robert and Valerie Downs Schultz.
Bob clerked for The Honorable Arthur J. Schwab during law school. He began his legal career at the firm of Jackson Lewis in Pittsburgh in September 2007. He then joined Wilbraham, Lawler and Buba focusing on mesothelioma cases. Bob then became legal counsel at Ampco-Pittsburgh Corporation. He worked briefly for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and taught for a year at Robert Morris University. He passed away suddenly in his sleep, and is truly missed by all who loved him dearly—especially his daughter, Elle, who had her Daddy wrapped around her little finger!
Bob/Robert would be pleased to know that this contribution, in his name, is bestowed upon the Theta Delta Chi fraternity where he spent his junior and senior years in residence and so enjoyed the Porch, overlooking the bluff.
Much love,
To the Brotherhood of Theta Delta Chi
